Before you come
How to work out how much paint you need
Measure each wall’s width and height, multiply, and add up all the walls. Subtract doors and windows. Most interior emulsions need two coats, so double the area.
Coverage differs by product and by how smooth and absorbent your wall is. Berger lists the spreading rate on each product. If you tell us the room sizes and the product, we work out the litres for you.
Rough walls, new plaster and a big colour change all need more paint. When in doubt, buy for the full job in one go so all the tins come from the same tinting.
- Room sizes or a rough sketch
- Photos of the walls in daylight
- Shade code, if you have chosen one
- Name of the paint used last time, if you know it
- Details of damp or peeling patches
