How to apply
Application steps
- Scrape loose paint and sand the wall with emery paper
- Fill cracks and dents with wall putty, let it dry and sand smooth
- Apply one coat of interior primer and let it dry
- Apply two coats of the emulsion, with drying time between coats
In Gwalior homes, washable paints such as Easy Clean are worth it for rooms used every day, because dust from the dry months settles on walls and needs wiping. Rooms that stay closed and get damp in the monsoon do better with an anti-fungal paint.
Choosing
Where Silk Metallics fits in the range
Silk Metallics is in the luxury level of Berger’s interior wall paints. Lower-cost options in the same category include Bison Lite, Bison Emulsion and Bison Glow. Similar choices at this level are Silk Matt, Silk Glamor Soft Sheen and Silk Glamor High Sheen. The right choice depends on the surface, the look you want and how long you want it to last, so ask us if you are unsure.
Before you buy
- Measure each room and add up wall and ceiling area
- Decide the finish: matt hides flaws, sheen cleans more easily
- Pick the shade on a large sample in your own room light
- Buy the full quantity of each shade together so all tins match
Mistakes to avoid
- Painting over damp or salt patches without fixing the cause
- Skipping primer on new plaster or putty
- Applying the second coat before the first is dry
- Thinning more than the pack allows, which weakens the film
Quantity
How much Silk Metallics will you need?
To estimate litres, measure the length and height of each wall, multiply, add all walls and ceilings, and subtract doors and windows. Plan for two coats. Berger prints the spreading rate on each pack, and actual coverage drops on rough or absorbent walls. Tell us the room sizes and we will work out the quantity for you.
