How to apply
Application steps
- Remove rust, old flaking paint and grease
- Apply a suitable metal or wood primer
- Sand lightly when the primer is dry
- Apply two coats of enamel, thinned as per the pack
Gates and grills in Gwalior rust fastest after the monsoon. Inspect metalwork in October and touch up damaged spots before the next rains.
Choosing
Where Butterfly GP Enamel fits in the range
Butterfly GP Enamel is in the economy level of Berger’s enamel paints. For a step up, look at Luxol Hi-Gloss, Luxol Satin Enamel and Luxol PU Enamel. The right choice depends on the surface, the look you want and how long you want it to last, so ask us if you are unsure.
Before you buy
- Check whether the surface is wood, iron or masonry
- Decide on gloss, satin or metallic finish
- Buy the matching primer and thinner together
- Plan outdoor metal work outside the monsoon
Mistakes to avoid
- Painting over rust without cleaning it
- Using a wall primer under enamel on metal
- Applying thick coats that run and wrinkle
- Recoating before the previous coat is dry
Quantity
How much Butterfly GP Enamel will you need?
Enamel quantity depends on the type of surface. Grills and gates take less paint than their outline suggests, while flat doors take more. Count the doors, windows and gates, or send photos, and we will suggest the pack sizes.
